Save that Dish for the Kids! {Easy DIY Sign}

Have I told you just how crazy we are? We are buying ALL of the food for the wedding ourselves. My original plan was to have my family help prepare, cook, and serve it – but we did end up finding a local caterer that gave us one heck of a deal to simply prepare the food and make our cakes. ๐Ÿ™‚

The idea below is one that several caterers have told us about. Don’t waste a big main dish on kids who don’t even want to eat it! Have a package or two of macaroni and cheese ready, and the kids will just eat it up! (Come on, we’ve all been to weddings where the parents have to run out the buy the kids some McDonald’s because either the food wasn’t served quickly enough or the kiddos didn’t like it!)

But here was my dilemma – how was I going to advertise that the mac and cheese was for the kids and not the adults? EASY!

I whipped up one of these little tags, used some chalk marker on either side, and now I’m ready for the big day!

I was able to use scrap paper that I had from other projects to make this little sign. Here is a decorative paper punch that is similar to the one I used.

Update: There were a handful of adults who helped themselves to this dish (we didn’t run out, so no big deal). But I had a bunch of parents thank me for thinking of their kids. While we had a generally kid friendly meal (pulled pork sandwiches, cheesy hashbrowns, and green beans) they said it was nice to have something their kids recognized and would gladly eat! Just put someone in charge of making it right before the food is set to go so you don’t have a last minute panic attack. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for looking!
