Being a new parent, I know there is sooooo much I don’t know yet. I’m sure even experienced parents would say this. One thing is certain though, I have never felt a love like this! Yes, I love my husband and my family – but the love I have for my firstborn child is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before!Sometimes we just need to appreciate our parents. Yet we don't understand just how much until we have children of our own...

This love first hit me when I first found out I was pregnant. I had no way yet met this little baby, but I knew I was in love. That love continued to grow throughout the pregnancy, but when I held my little babe in my arms it was solidified!

When my little boy was just a couple days old, I came to a realization. Is this how much my parents loved me? WOW! It probably sounds obvious to many, but it really caught me by surprise. My parents have always loved me, but this much?! They must be crazy! {Well, they sort of are, but anyone who knows them already knows that! ๐Ÿ˜‰ }

But in all seriousness… Think about the love you have for your child. Then imagine your parents feeling that same way the day they met you. When you actually stop and think about it, it’s a bit overwhelming!

My parents have sacrificed plenty for my siblings and I over the years. I’ve always realized they did a good job getting all three of us to adulthood, but I hadn’t put much more thought into it. We were good kids who turned into good adults. That’s normal, right? But then I look around the world and realize it’s not entirely normal. They put a lotย of work and love into us!

Sadly, it took me having a child to better appreciate my mom and dad. And I’m guessing that I will continue to appreciate them more as hubby and I raise our son. But in the meantime – thanks dad and mom for loving me!

Did you ever have a realization about how much your family loved you? Feel free to share it in the comments below!
