Christmas Coal with FREE Printable

December 7, 2015

Do you have a family member who is good at taking a joke? Are they one of the hardest people to buy for each Christmas? Then why not try some Christmas coal! {This blog contains affiliate links.}

I’ve done this activity with children ages 5-12. Obviously their level of help depends on their age, but if I can do this with 12-20 students in the classroom YOU can do this with your own children!

In case you are having trouble reading the saying, here it is:

I heard you have been naughty, not nice
And Santa even checked his list twice!
So all the way from the cold North Pole,
All you’re getting is this lump of coal!
Merry Christmas!

(I am not taking credit for the saying. I’ve looked across the internet, and I think this was out before internet times. If you know the original source, please let me know in the comments below so I can give appropriate credit!)

The recipe is so easy!
1/4 cup butter
10.5 ounce bag mini marshmallows
1/8 tsp. black icing color (you may need a little more)
4 cups rice cereal

If you’re like me, you’re going to struggle finding black icing.
Here’s a link to the exact kind I used!

You can read more about this recipe here!

Merry almost-Christmas!

Who could you see giving coal to this year?
