Is It OK to Be Broken?

Life can be hard. Sometimes nothing seems to be going your way. Friends let you down. Family pushes you aside. Work is tough. You’re short-tempered, frustrated, and upset. You’re obviously broken right now. But is it ok to be broken?

There are times where it’s easy to ask for help. We know exactly what we need. Others are willing to help out. But what about the times when you can’t pinpoint exactly what is wrong? What about the times when others can’t help, even if they try…

In a picture perfect Pinterest world where everyone shows off their best, happiest selves - is it ok to be broken?

How do you deal?

Do you push through and make the most of it? Do you get up, put on a happy face, and pretend like everything is ok? Or do you tell the world what is wrong?

Many times in today’s society it’s like we have to put on a face. We have to be happy. There’s something wrong with us if every moment isn’t picture perfect. Our kids should be smiling. Our homes should be clean. Our meals should be divine. We should have no debt. Everything should be great.

That is NOT reality.

Reality is there are hard days. You oversleep. You burn breakfast. You stub your toe. Someone dies. You find out someone you love has cancer. You lose your job. You’re in a car accident. Life can be hard.

In a perfect world, is it ok to be broken? Is it ok to ask others for help? How do you deal?

Sometimes it’s impossible to be at our best. Sometimes our best is just being. However, we have to keep pushing forward. The darkness too shall pass. There will be light again. It may not look like it, but there will be light. Growth can come from the darkest days. Growth needs to come from these days. Rely on Him and know that in the end, everything will work out.

It is ok to be broken for a time.
